
HELENA ALEKSANDROVA
I am a Helsinki-based artist and cinephile who engages with film and moving images through the roles of director, editor, writer, performer, and art director, My work is deeply influenced by site-specificity, using existing spaces to shape my storytelling. My visually rich films explore subcultures, urban mythology, and genre cinema.

In April 2023, I established a film collective Film Tonight! together with Mariangela Pluchino, Roxana Sadvokassova and Jelica Jerinic.

I hold a double BA in Film & Video Theory from Bard College, USA and Smolny College, St.Petersburg, Russia. In 2017, I received a Master's degree in Visual Culture and Contemporary Art from Aalto University, Finland. In 2019, I was a participant of the Academy of Moving People and Images (AMPI). In 2021, I joined AMPI as a coordinator. I received grants from SKR, Kone Foundation, TAIKE, AVEK. My works were shown around Finland, Belgium, Croatia, Latvia, and Czech Republic. In 2023, participant of Production Design workshop by Kave Quinn at Black Room, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event at POFF Film Festival. Member of AV-Arkki.

in production design, costume design, and
other art department roles.
